Game is Dying, find a way to Revive it

Post by Skt george » Sat Mar 07, 2026 10:32 am

Have the owners stopped advertising the game for a while now?
I've noticed the huge downfall of activity/the game, having barely any players online,
the most I see a day is 25-30 active players while back in the good days it used to be 200+.
It's obvious the reason the OG's aren't playing anymore is because most of them are busy adults with families/children,
and they can't just leave what they're doing to come to the game and revive it, and of course some get bored of it, etc...

This is where Advertisements come in the picture, im sure this whole idea is not new, what im confused about is
why keep the server on but keep it dead? some people are still holding into it, and are also agreeing with point of view

thank you for your time lads,

George

Lack of advertisement, lack of update and toxic people telling the few new player to not bother playing cause game is dead and even telling them other server to play(Herbalist x been doing that and staff aint doing shit).

They care about it, but the actions that could move it forward will not be taken.

It would require either more free time on their end (doesn't exist), prioritization over actual work or life responsibilities (doesn't make sense to), or someone they trust who also wants to take the keys to the server for development (no such person exists that meets both criteria; the trustworthy people are uninterested, the interested people are not trustworthy).

First two points check out. As for adding developers, we are open to it, and I’m happy to run them through what is blocking a cache update. Reality is that most potential trial devs are in the exact same situation as all of us. No time and no justification for prioritizing it over things that are more important in life. Not that the game is unimportant. But you can imagine there are many more important things for the average single 28 year old software engineer to spend their time on.

I can't blame you, especially after all the discord shit that happened to you,and weirdly enough those people dont bring anything positive to the game and now that game is dead, they're gone.

We should not give up, perhaps identify someone trustworthy who can lead the server in the future. People that come to mind are Adam or Patel. I'm not talking about a full-time commitment as I am positive they are both extremely busy and successful people. However, could someone theoretically be the middle-man between Mike/Rapsey and the Developers to lead to updates. I'm sure someone in our community has experience in advertising as well?

We can release updates independently of Rapsey, except in very rare circumstances where certain servers are down. If trial devs are interested, I would be the one doing update deployments for them.

Interesting to know. I think the next question would be, in which direction would be want the server to go? I have always been a little reluctant with the OSRS-copy style. We could really do with some great custom content to get more players interested.

Who do we have as trial developers?

With the cache conversion process being the biggest blocker of new content rn, I was thinking about adding some custom content. Idk. We should finish Gauntlet in the near term I think. It’s extremely close to done last I checked.

Not going to name drop the trial devs but they can chime in if they want. Basically, we’ve probably given anywhere from 5-10 people repo access since we decided we’d be more open with it given the state of the game. I think once most people see the code, they immediately nope out. Which is fair tbh.
