I found the easiest way is to ask other players for the cape/books/staffs.

Was just wondering if you could duo the monster and leech the kill will the ritual still be complete?

nobody else besides the wise old man will be able to go into the nex chamber with you UNTIL you have this quest done, sorry friend but you have to solo her the first time
