About this boss
Bellock, the Crazed archaeologist is a demi-boss who resides at the Ruins south of the forgotten cemetry. (level 22 wilderness) He attacks with range & melee attacks and can perform a attack where he throws exploding books that hits in 3x3 area. If maging/ranging from a distance he will only attack with range. Bellock is unique in a way that's quite interesting, he has a variety of things he can say to his opponent during battle. Some quotes said by Bellock during the fight are "You belong in a museum" "These ruins are mine" "Taste my knowledge" "Rain of knowledge" "I'm Bellock - respect me!" and upon death, "Ow!". He drops one of the three shards needed to make the malediciton & odium ward & a nice cosmetic, the fedora. He can be assigned as a slayer task from duradel. He is an easy boss, that can provide some decent cash making it worthwhile. Ironmen and regular players alike will find he is a great way to farm hard clue scrolls & other supplies such as red dragonhide, dragon arrows, runes, cannonballs & coal.
Location

He is located at the Ruins south of the forgotten cemetry, Level 22 wilderness, and singles combat. Always be sure to bring a charged glory for teleportation out.
Getting There
Option 1: Monsters Teleport - God wars Dungeon - Run north to the shortcut - then run south (Path you take once completing the shortcut is marked blue on the maps)
Option 2: Run northwest from edgeville (orange on map)
Option 3: Pvp teleports - Black chincompas - Run southwest (red on map)

Unique Drops

Image Malediction Shard 2 (1 of 3 shards needed to make malediciton ward)
Image Odium Shard 2 (1 of 3 shards needed to make odium ward, BiS for range attack)
Image Fedora (unique cosmetic)
Image Long Bone (grants 50k construction xp when buried, and if wearing brawlers 30% more, tradeable)
Image Clue Scroll (Hard) (I put this here because it's an amazing way for players to farm hard clues)
Gear & Methods of killing

Note:
While on a slayer task with a slayer streak, use a slayer helmet. Damage bonuses that are provided from the slayer helm while on task scale with your current streak starting at 1 and capping at 15. So while on a task with a streak it's always recommended to use a slayer helmet.
First method: Melee. He will attack with Melee & range, pray range/melee and minimal food will be needed. He doesn't hit too hard & goes down fast.
Welfare Melee

Image
Necklace:
Glory - fury (if replacing with a fury, be sure to bring one as your teleport out)
Ring:
Recoil - Warrior - Berserker
Gloves:
Dragon - Barrows (I wouldn't recommend slayer brawlers unless on a slayer task)
Platebody:
Rune - black d'hide top (mage def in case of pkers) - dragon - barrows
Platelegs:
Rune - dragon - barrows
Shield:
Obby shield - Dragonfireshield - Dragon defender
Medium Tier Melee

Image
Platebody:
Barrows - Bandos
Platelegs:
Barrows - Bandos
Shield:
Dragonfire shield - Dragon defender
Weapon:
Abyssal Whip - Chaotic Rapier - Souls/Chaos
Max Tier Melee

Image
Shield:
Dragonfire shield - Dragon defender
Cape:
Souls comp - Unholy comp
Second Method: Range. When ranging Bellock from a distance he will only attack you with range styled attacks, while praying range food will essentially only be in case of pkers & for overloading. Although I'd only recommend this setup for high tiered players with chaos + blowpipe combo, without it melee will be more efficient. Although void range with blowpipe/chaotic cbow/arma is still a very viable option as he is easy to kill & you won't take damage praying range and ranging from a distance.
High Ranging Setup

Ring:
Archers ring - Archers ring (i)
Darts:
Rune darts - Dragon darts
Inventory Setups

Image Image
Note: When killing & picking up most drops, your inventory will fill up quick. (drop or eat your manta rays too fill up your inventory with loot or don't bring any). Combined with it being low-risk, that is why I recommend this style of inventory.

Melee: 1 Overload/Super combat potion, 1 glory for teleportation (if using glory as your necklace slot, replace with a piece of food) 4 super prayers, 7 brews, 16 manta rays (or the rest empty for maximum looting) Fortune comp if you have it and want to risk it for its bonuses.

Range: 1 Overload/Extreme ranging potion, 1 glory for teleportation, 4 super prayers, 7 brews, 16 manta rays (or the rest empty for maximum looting) Fortune comp if you have it and would like to risk it for its bonuses (replace with a piece of food if not)

Prayers

If using Melee: Protect item, Protection from melee/ranged, Piety/turmoil
Image Image
If using Range: Protect item, Protection from range, Rigour

A Few Inventories of loot
Quick look at the loot you can expect give or take some (I used chaos/fortune comp throughout all of my kills & wielded all dragon arrow drops to conserve a inventory space for more loot).

Very nice guide. I almost lost it when I saw that drop table, looks so good. Even have the coins gif.
I prefer dhide top when welfaring for the extra mage defence against pkers.

Teleporting to Godwars and using the agility shortcut is fastest btw.

Exactly what I wanted to say. Nice guide though.

Code: Select all

While on a slayer task, use a slayer helmet.
If you want to include this for people that are not experienced yet, you should be more complete. If you don't have a slayer streak using slayer helmet is kinda useless.

His gear set-up pictures clearly shows a helm of neitiznot though.
