10? Years On.
How would you recap the last ten years of Pkhonor's game development, community changes, and anything else worthy of note?

Re: 10? Years On.
2015 - 2019
Things are booming more or less. PvM and PvP clans are going at it. Drama monthly. Consistent updates. Towards the end of this period, development started to take a heavy influence from OSRS, for better or worse.
2019 - 2020
Dark times part 1. Player count drops due to lack of consistent updates. Large majority of the player base is entering the workforce irl and has moved on. We saw player counts in the 40s-50s daily. viewtopic.php?t=77027
2020 - 2022
The Covid Boom. Fueled by the return of Thoby as a Developer, massive updates are dropped one after the other. While content continued to be heavily inspired by OSRS, most content had a unique spin on it. This period saw the return of many players who had quit pkhonor years ago, looking for something to do during lockdown. Some stayed for a while, others didnt stick around. We also got a revamped event system that has allowed us to run consistent community pvm events.
Some of the most impactful updates: This period had an incredible amount of content packed into it that will last most players a long time.
2023 - Present
The Dark Times part 2. This current era of PkHonor has seen infighting among staff members, corruption exposed, a noticable lack of leadership and direction, and the development cycle has ground to a halt. All of the former developers have quit due to being harassed by certain members of the player base or due to their frustration with the development turnaround time.
These threads sum up the recent issues and show you where our current state is: Our player count has been in the 30s-50s for the last year with no end in sight. Bottom line is that the people who want to make positive change for the server simply don't have the power to do so.

Re: 10? Years On.
Created my account in 2011 due to my irl friends at the time were playing this and once they showed me the game I was instantly hooked. Spent hours grinding my account everyday before school and after school the game was very active in terms of what was out there pkhonor was miles ahead compared to other servers and was addicting.
Fast forward a few years the game was popping no matter the time zone the wilderness had all sorts of pkers, people would upload pk vids for fun and was always an enjoyable experience. To this day custom whips are the staple and will be the biggest thing pkh has ever done and will do imo and once they removed the accessibility of them in the wilderness I kinda was annoyed as the reason at the time custom whips is what made the game fun for me and been able to use them in the wilderness in edge was some of the more fun times I had.
I'd say 2015+ you would truely notice how stale the game became and with other rsps coming out pkh just fell behind and to this day we are just tooooo far behind where the game needs to be to compete with any server to draw players into joining pkh.
As Adam said, when covid hit pkh sorta came back alive server was popping again which made me come back and actually learn how to do tob which was very enjoyable to do, but I found a few selects of people that were "toxic" if you must and as learning the traits of tob I would want to do raids with people and learn n get some cool as loots, but some players and staff at the time flat out refused to do any with me due to lack of experience or I would slow the team down. Which came along I believe the cc name was called mystic? Something like that anyways, mystic or mythic was the reason why I kept coming back as it had some of the nicest people in there always happy to help and just genuinely great folks, Shout out spirit tank and earn success n a few others forgot some other names.
As of writing this in 2025, the same issues we had 10 years ago maybe even further back we still have them today there are a few select of people that constantly hope in yell saying how bad the game is which will turn away any new faces that come in, we have no communication with the owners, we've never really had any pushed advertising for the server and we suck at retaining new players. I believe rapsey posted something on the forums a while back that new players join ask around for help or whatever then just leave. For something as players can do with staff is just encourage more people into roles if its been a server support or a mod cover every timezone possible so if new players join somebody can always be around to help out. (Obviously thats with saying dont just give out ranks to ever tom, dick n harry)
In summary we are fked.

Guess I was part of the 'business is booming' and the moving on generation hehe. (Time flies tho, so might just be my thoughts)Iron adam wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 1:26 am 2015 - 2019

Its fun to hop on and have a look around from time to time tho.
