Nightmare (and other) instances: clan-based or invite-only?

I'm currently working on instances for the Nightmare of Ashihama, as part of a new instance management system, with the possibility of paid instances in the future. However, I'm not sure what the community gives preference to: instances that are tied to a clan (the way Chambers of Xeric is going to work) or an invite-only system, such as the Theatre of Blood?

Advantages of clan-based instances:
  • No need to waste time inviting other players into an instance
  • Players can join mid-fight (does not apply to the Nightmare or CoX)
Advantages of invite-only instances:
  • The freedom to invite anyone into an instance, even if they do not belong to your clan
  • Any player can create a new instance at any time

invite only seems to be the best IMO.
no specific reason for this, but seems the best if you think about it. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Although for invite only it would have to be more convenient I.E rebanking at nightmare.
you are pretty much bound to have to get spec after every kill.
Maybe implement it so people would have to manually leave the group if they decide to be done and not continue killing the boss.
(if this is possible)^

I think invite only would be better soley for the fact that if you're in a clan you don't have to leave it to create your own and then have no one to talk to the whole time. If you want others to join you just invite them, if not then you're free to solo. I would suggest making sure they can't kick someone halfway through the kill to prevent rage kicking or stealing loot if that's possible or at least have a clear stance on it when it comes to the rules. Lord forbid you do a boss and right before it dies you get kicked and the other player gets a multi bill worth drop and hoards it for themselves.

I voted for both because I like the way they both work but I do like the invite one a bit more. Just a bit.

I'm all for INVITE-ONLY

Other than being able to join the instance mid-fight, I don't see any other perk in a clan-based instance.
The time needed to invite players into a team is negligible imo.

I voted for invite only, But the truth is it doesn't really matter, considering nightmare is already dead content...probably should just leave it as it is right now considering its hard to find ppl to join even without instances.

I can think of at least 2 people who aren’t grinding Nightmare until instances come out, so that might be a factor
